Retiring stamps and accessories – get ‘em before they are gone!

Retiring stamps and accessories. It’s that time of year again, when Stampin’ Up! retires stamp sets and accessories, and you don’t want to miss out on your favorites if they are on the list.

Stampin Up retiring stamps and accessories

Stampin Up Retiring list

All accessories tend to sell out very quickly, and once they’re gone, that’s it! I recommend ordering these now at my online store to ensure that you get them. The stamp sets are available until May 31, as Stampin’ Up! makes these in Kanab, and they are able to provide them up until the last day of the catalog. My favorite shimmer paints are on the chopping block, the ones I use to shimmer my cards. If they are yours too, you will want to get them now, as they are sure to sell out in the next few days, if not sooner. Click on the links below to see the lists.

Color my world with Color Refresh!

WOW! Have you heard the news about Color Refresh? This is exciting! Thank you Kimberly for the awesome graphic.

Color_refresh_2013
I am so happy that so many of the favorite In Colors are making their way back into our core line.  Bermuda Bay!  Wisteria Wonder!  Pool Party!  Island Indigo!  Woohoo! How about you?

Here are more details:

Color is fundamental to who we are and what we offer. It’s important for us to stay up-to-date with color trends so we are thrilled to share our updated line of colors, and hope you will be as excited as we are by the new possibilities!

Why now? In 2010 we did a big color renovation and shared our plans for smaller color refreshes every three to five years to keep our colors on trend. Well it has been three years and we are excited to announce that the upcoming 2013-2014 annual catalog will include 10 new colors (most of which are returning In Colors from previous years)! We are welcoming back some of your favorites, moving some colors around, and introducing one brand-new color, so take a look!

Beginning on April 4, 2013, all retiring/discontinued color products (i.e. ink, paper, ribbon, accessories, etc.) will be available only while supplies last. This means that some products will not be available through the retired list period. We did anticipate increased demand and based our forecasts for these retiring colors on historical sales information from previous color transitions. However, even with the most careful planning, the response to a transition of this nature can surprise everyone.

And also announced today, FREE SHIPPING is going on April 6-8, 2013, which would be a great time for you to get your favorites before they are gone! Don’t wait and pay astronomical prices on auction sites later, get yours now. Go to my website at www.ginalantz.stampinup.net to order yours today.

It’s time again for you Sassy Chic stampers – March 2

Link

Wow, February just flew by. I swear, as I get older, the time goes by much faster. We finally got to have our Creative Cards class this past Wednesday because of the snow and other time commitments, and I will post those photos here in a bit. Usually the Tides of March hit in March, but for some reason they hit our house in February. We got a new puppy, Sam, at the beginning of February and he is a handful, but cute as can be. We also had a Sunday in urgent care with a broken toe (that would be Jeremy trying to kick the gate shut so the dogs don’t get out). The following Sunday we made a trek through a major snowstorm to urgent care for a case of possible strep throat for Josh (I still don’t know if it was truly strep, but whatever it was, it was nasty). He ran a fever of 103 for four days, even while on antibiotics, and his tonsils were huge, red, angry boulders in the back of his throat. Poor baby couldn’t talk or swallow anything for a week. Then my mother broke a tooth and we are still trying to get her all fixed up. It’s been a crazy mess. But that’s not why you are here. Let’s get to some stamping news.

bunnyIt’s time for another round of Sassy Chic stampers at Stamp Camp! What’s this all about you ask? Well a bunch of stampers get together every month in Longmont along with 10 demonstrators for a day of stamping fun. You get to bring your friends and make som e new ones too, all while fostering your creative side. Even if you don’t think you are crafty, you can do this. We do all the hard work, designing and cutting, and you come and stamp and put them together. And you get a light lunch as well. What could be better?

Here’s the deets peeps: (haha – Peeps, get it? – I just crack myself up)

Camp is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Spring flowers, baby chicks and bunnies are the card themes for March (check out the photo snippet)

Spring catalog sample

The new spring catalog is here and it is oh, so wonderful! There are so many fabulous new products to get your creative juices flowing.

I am typing this as I am flying out to Orlando for our Leadership convention. I apologize for any misspellings right now, as we are hitting quite a bit of turbulence. Holy schmoley it’s bumpy! Probably not a good idea to get a drink, I would probably be wearing most of it as it sloshes out of the glass.

Anywho, back to the new mini. Here is a card I put together for a card swap. I showed a sneak peek last week.

And here is the full card.

I broke out the River Rock card stock. I haven’t used that color in a while and thought it would go well with the Rose Red. I inked up the wood grain embossing folder (#127821 $7.95) with the River Rock ink on a braver. You could also use a sponge or rub the ink pad directly in the folder for a different look. I then ran a piece of Whisper White cardstock in the embossing folder through the Big Shot, and voila! Two-toned wood grain! Fabulous if I do say so.

I then layered the textured piece to the River Rock back. When adhering textured cardstock that you have created using the Big Shot and embossing folders, it’s best to stick them down with either glue dots, sticky strip or dimensionals to ensure they stay stuck down.

I cut a strip 1.5 inches wide and 5 inches long, then slit up the center, the cut from the corner to the top of the slit to create the ribbon banner effect. Then I stamped the flower image from the new set Secret Garden (#129144 – clear) in Versamark randomly creating a pattern.

I stamped the large flower outline and the small flower solid in Versamark on Baja Breeze and embossed them with clear powder. Then I crinkled them up to give them more dimension. I put a dimensional between each flower. Add a big ole rhinestone in the middle (gotta have some bling) and tada -instant spring!

I stamped the greeting on a scrap piece of cardstock and cut it using the ribbon/banner technique above. I glued this piece to the back of the Rose Red ribbon around the bottom 1/3 of it.

I took the new doily and cut it in half, crinkled it up and adhered it to the back of the Rose Red ribbon, the added the flower with a dimensional on the front. Then I stuck this to the card with dimensionals.

I sprayed it with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and 70% rubbing alcohol (about 4-5 drops of shimmer paint and the rest alcohol) in our spritzers. I just love those things! Shake well to combine, and spritz. It leaves you with a fabulous sparkle and shine that is not too over the top.

Then all you have to do is address it and send it to someone you think is wonderful.

There are so many wonderful goodies in this mini! What are your faves? Need a catalog? Contact me and I would be happy to get one to you.

Super cool Craft Baby Secret Pal goodies

I got up early to hit an after Christmas sale at Pier 1 because they had the cutest pillow with jingle bells on it on clearance. Unfortunately, I did not get there early enough to get that pillow, but I did score these really cool ones.

The red one is a velvet background with a beaded reindeer, and the other one is a burlap-type material with ribbons sewn on it. I was really bummed that the cute little reindeer pillow and the snowman pillow were already taken. That’s what I get for getting there a half-hour after they opened.

Later that day, I got a package from my Craft Baby Secret Pal and I was so excited to open it. This is a great program that I signed up for this year. I will definitely do it again. Anyway I opened up the package and was so excited. Look at all these great goodies.

I got these great crocheted boot socks! I love these! I can’t wait to wear them.

And then I opened this lovely.

It’s a green velvet pillow cover with a reindeer silhouette on it. And it completely coordinates with the ones I bought earlier that day. It’s funny how things work out. The green is the exact same color of the ribbon in one of the pillows and the reindeer silhouette coordinates with the beaded pillow.

I have to get the insert for the pillow, but don’t they look fabulous together? Thank you www.dearemmeline.blogspot.com for the absolutely fabulous gifts! You rock! Check out her tutorial for this awesome pillow at http://dearemmeline.blogspot.com/2012/12/deer-silhouette-holiday-pillow-ikea.html.

Stay tuned for my post on my gift to my Secret Pal Colleen.

Holiday wrap up

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a great holiday with tons of presents. The boys went a bit nuts with their shopping.

I don’t remember having that many presents ever! Here’s Josh playing Santa and handing out the presents.

Jeremy waiting patiently, but picking off the scratch ticket attached…

We also had Sajara join us this year. Here’s Sajara before…

and after…

Joe is getting loved on by the animals.

and Bupkis is relaxing on the new pillow Daisey got for Christmas.

Here’s Daisey and Bupkis hanging out together.

We had a special ornament this year. Tigger decided he wanted to be part of the tree.

We had dinner later that day with my parents, and I think my mom really likes Bupkis. He sure does like her. He hopped up on the couch next to her and snuggled up.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends, whether they be human or furry.

Craft baby secret pal package #1

A couple weeks ago I got a special package in the mail. I signed up for the Craft Baby Secret Pal and was pleasantly surprised with a little goodie. It’s a cute little chalkboard and even came with chalk. The fabric seems to be a type of chalkboard material, which is really cool. I didn’t know they made such a thing.

fabric chalkboard

Here’s the link to the original post that tells a little about her. I am excited that she likes Mandy from Vintage Revivals guts too. That just cracks me up. I have no idea who this could be. I have sent off a couple little goodies to my Secret Pal as well. I hope she likes them.

Have you ever done a secret pal program? Did you enjoy it? What did you learn? So far, I think this is a really cool deal. Thanks CraftBaby, for putting it together.

Ornament exchange was a hit

A few weeks ago, I signed up for an ornament exchange. You saw my link to my guest blog post for the Stampin’ Up! ornament that I made for my new pal Julie. She lives in New Jersey and I really hope she liked her ornament. Here’s the link for the Holiday Ornament Keepsake post.

Julie sent me two of these little beauties.

purple glitter ornament with quilled flower

I love the purple glitter and the quilling is gorgeous. I love the look of quilling, but do not have the patience to do it.

They are perfect for my little pink tree that I wanted to put up at work, but right now they are glimmering on the family tree, mostly because I don’t know where my little pink tree is. Aren’t they gorgeous?

ornament on tree

Do you do an ornament exchange, either with friends, coworkers, or as I did with complete strangers to make new friends? I would love to see what kind of exchanges you do.

Smile! It’s only a family photo

I figured I should really play around with the new MDS2+ to see what it could do, and my, oh, my. I just put this simple page together in under an hour using the “A Split Second” designer template. I wanted to do a special page to showcase my mom’s brother and sisters. Sadly, the only time we get together is when someone gets married or dies, as was the case here. My Aunt Ila had passed away, so it was one of those opportunities for the family to gather. I think my aunts and uncle would like this page.

It’s your turn to try. See what you can do with MDS2+. If you don’t have it, you can download it for free for 30 days to give it a whirl.
